I had the privilege of checking out the new I.D.E.A. Museum, formerly AMY, and it is incredible! I.D.E.A. is an acronym for Imagine, Design, Experience, Art. This place offers children of all ages opportunites for each of these things, and more. My children were able to play dress up and pretend play in Artville, and then doodle and create a masterpiece using a variety of materials in the HUB. The HUB features many different ways for the kiddos to be creative. They can create a work of art using recycled materials, create their own short film in the sound space, create their own eyeglasses, and much more. Once they finished there, the kids excitedly explored the Art of the Robot exhibit, where they were able to design their own robots, explore some engineering delights, and enjoy the many fine examples of robot inspired art.
The Museum's goal is to provide plenty of opportunities to create together. Their vision is to maintain a place for your child and the child within you to captivate you in science, technology, engineering, and math through an artistic lens. This vision was created with the support of several donations to redesign this museum with the focus on art using a variety of mult-sensory experiences.
The Museum also has a special place for infants to crawl around and be in a safe environment while exploring as well as one geared toward the toddler and their sensory discovery. These wonderful additions make for great peace of mind for the parents as well as a wonderful time for the child!
One of my favorite things about this museum is that there are plenty of things for my children to explore, create, and learn, and to make things better, it's very affordable to make it accessible to all families, including those on a budget. We will definitely be going back to this gem. I would absolutely recommend this for all ages, from babies, to teens, and even to the kids trapped in adult bodies.
You can check out this museum anytime during their business hours which are Tuesday though Sat 9am-4pm and Sunday 12pm-4pm. The I.D.E.A. Museum also participates in the Target 3-for-FREE program where the first Sunday of the month admission is FREE from 12pm-5pm.
